What are sulfates and why are they harmful to hair?

How many times have you heard that shampoo should foam to remove impurities from your hair? What creates the foam are precisely the sulfates. Sulfates are also found in detergents, cleaning agents, liquid soaps, shower gels, baths, toothpastes... Sulfates are actually salts of sulfuric acid that attract water and oil, thus removing dirt and oil from our skin and hair.

BUT.....

Sulfates are so aggressive that they also strip our skin and hair of the natural oils and proteins that help them stay healthy. Sulfates dry out the scalp, cause dandruff and hair loss, and cause allergic reactions. They are especially harmful to people who suffer from skin diseases or scalp problems - eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, etc. They also damage thin and dry hair, and there are even claims that they are carcinogenic to some extent.
Due to their aggressiveness, sulfates quickly wash away both keratin and botox out of the hair.
The most famous, most aggressive and most hated sulfate is SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). SLS in shampoo increases the risk of scalp irritation, irritates the eyes and makes hair tangled, cracked and dull.

HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR WITH SULPHATE-FREE PRODUCTS

1. Soak your hair.
2. Apply only a small amount of shampoo to the scalp and rub in. If the shampoo does not lather the first time you wash it, this is normal.
3. Rinse.
4. Apply a little more shampoo throughout the hair.
5. Rinse well.
6. Apply conditioner or mask according to instructions (at least 10-15 cm from the scalp).
7. Rinse well with warm water.

Proper hair care after Cocochoco treatment extends the duration of the Cocochoco treatment up to six months, but you can use our sulfate-free products regardless of whether you have done the Cocochoco treatment or not. Cocochoco hair care products are suitable and safe for any hair type.
